In a study assessing perceptual categorization of shapes, we investigated effects of the category evidence and perceived category for one stimulus on the categorization of the next. Attractive and repulsive temporal history effects were present when categorizing morphs between newly formed categories but not when categorizing morphs between pre-existing categories.
